Post 2: Flowers for Algernon - Joseph Huynh

Charlie, the main protagonist in the story is a retarded man. I feel his pain. Everyone shunning him out of society. Rejected by his own family. Disdained by society. Charlie had his hope up when the two university students came up with the experiment to boost intelligence. I would be very ecstatic if I found out that someone came up with a cure that could eventually turn my life around. Charlie can be compared to the low class people in today's world. I say this because that there was little hope for him and that no one really wanted to help him out. But these two students found a possible solution. I was happy for Charlie that there could be some joy in his life. He underwent the experiment and became intelligent. Overtime, his intelligence doubled, then tripled. It got to the point where people were actually afraid of him. Then when the news of him reverted back to his old self got to him, he was heartbroken. Charlie was literally unhappy all his life because he kept on looking for a solution that was impossible and I felt very sorry for him. Today’s low class people are in the same shoes as Charlie. They are searching for a solution as well. Everyone needs good luck to find it. The point I am trying to make that misfortune is in many places in society and that it is very hard to find a solution and that sorrow is needed to be expressed in respect for these people.
